Construction Solutions International Inc., initially known as Jerry Bailey Enterprises is a marine, industrial and demolitions contractor. The company has been in business since 1984 and is headquartered in Mobile, Alabama. The company’s leadership is comprised of Melissa Bailey who serves as the Chief Executive Officer, Jerry W. Bailey Jr. is the Company President and W.D. (Chip) Conklin Jr. is the Principal Engineer for the company.
W.D. (Chip), Conklin Jr., is a product of the United States Military Academy at West Point, graduating in 1984 with a degree in civil engineering. He began his service in the U.S. Army with the 101st Airborne Division at Fort Campbell, KY and later served in the U. S. Army Corps of Engineers, Louisville District. After fulfilling his commitment to the U.S. Army, he became employed with International Paper, first in the Corporate Engineering Group and then at the Mobile Mill in Mobile, Alabama. Chip left International Paper to take a position with Champion International as the Project Engineer for a 60 million dollar Greenfield Sawmill Project in Pensacola, Florida. Chip was asked by Jerry to become involved in his company in the Fall of 2000. He holds professional engineer licenses in the state of Alabama and commonwealth of Virginia.
Jerry W. Bailey Jr. started running a bulldozer with his father by the time he was six years old in Marlton, Arkansas. Jerry worked in the construction industry during his teenage years before joining the U. S. Air Force. While in the U. S. Air Force, he served as a Survival Training Instructor at the U.S. Air Force Academy. He ended his time in the U. S. Air Force as a member of the Search, Evade and Rescue Activity team in Southeast Asia. Upon returning home Jerry attended school at the University of South Alabama, Bishop State College and Faulkner State College. He became a commercial diver where he added the titles of Dive Master and Salvage Master to his credentials, specializing in salvage work in and around the Gulf of Mexico, near coastal bays and rivers. Jerry’s love for work on the water motivated him to attain his U.S. Coast Guard Captain’s License and his Master of Towing Vessels and Examiner endorsement. Jerry started the company that would become known as Construction Solutions International with his wife Melissa in 1984.
Chief Executive (aka the real boss )
Melissa E. Bailey is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. S.
J. “Pat” Ellison Jr. of Creola, Alabama. Her father, Pat, began an
industrial company known as Pat’s Services in the 1960’s and operated the
company until 1986. Melissa married Jerry Bailey in 1977 and both worked in
her father’s company. Together, in 1984, they founded their own company.
With Melissa’s background in the construction industry, she conducts the
financial management of the company. She attended the University of Southern
Mississippi and the University of South Alabama. Her accomplishments include
raising three wonderful daughters, serving as President of the Women’s
Missionary Auxiliary of Alabama and Georgia from 2003 thru 2007 and served
as the Secretary/Treasurer of the Women’s Missionary Auxiliary of Mobile
County. She is also the pianist at the Fountain of Faith Missionary Baptist
Church, leader of the Church’s Puppet Ministry, works with the Honduran
Hospital Ministry, school volunteer and an avid gardener.
